Antique print titled 'Guerriers de l'ile d'Ombai'. Two warriors of Ombai Island, Papua fighting. Ombai is an alternative name for the island of Alor. Plate to 'Souvenirs d'un aveugle (blind man)' by Jacques Etienne Victor Arago (1790, 1855). A French writer, artist and explorer, Arago joined Louis de Freycinet on his 1817 voyage around the world aboard the ship Uranie, which inspired his witty 'Voyage autour du monde'. Although he lost his sight in 1837, he went on traveling and writing for the theater.
